MEET THE THERAPIST
Drawn to beautiful San Diego from Texas, Emily moved here in 2001 for psychology undergraduate studies at the University of San Diego. Her love of education led her into teaching, where she taught seventh and eighth grade students. Emily discovered her greatest passion is to work intimately with people to help them realize their full and limitless potential. She then pursued a M.A. in Marital and Family Therapy from the University of San Diego in 2008 and became a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) in 2012. Emily works from a variety of modalities including traditional therapeutic models, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), as well as newer models of therapy, such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Somatic Experiencing (SE). She is currently a student of Somatic Experiencing working towards certification in this modality. She is trained in various protocols to work with PTSD, including Prolonged Exposure Therapy and Cognitive Processing Therapy. The approach used will depend on the issues and goals, so that each client has a unique treatment. Emily prioritizes personal growth in her own life and lives adhering to those morals and values. She understands the significance of relationships and their importance in living a fulfilling life. When she is not in the office, you can find Emily outdoors connecting to nature and living an active lifestyle. Emily has been a devoted yogi for 15 years and includes meditation in her daily life. |
